01 August 2026: The Russian-flagged container ship Yanina, operated by FESCO under the control of Rosatom, sunk today after being struck by naval drones in the Black Sea late on 31 July, roughly 130 nautical miles from Novorossiysk.

• Two Ukrainian Magura  ncrewed surface vessels struck the ship while she was underway in international waters
• All 17 crew members were rescued
• Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev confirmed the strike and called it an act of piracy
• President Zelensky confirmed the strike, stating: “Our targets are consistently defined facilities that sustain the war effort.”

Yanina’s tracked voyage:

• Departed Mundra, India on 15 July 2026
• Anchored at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 23 July, staging ahead of the Suez Canal queue
• Transited the Suez Canal 25-26 July
• Continued via the Bosporus into the Black Sea, bound for Novorossiysk, with a reported ETA of 1 August
