Five general aviation aircraft violated the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over Houston on today while President Trump was in town.

U.S. Air Force F-16s on combat air patrol for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted all five aircraft and safely escorted them out of the restricted airspace.

The TFR was established for the president’s visit and covered a 30 nautical mile area around Houston, with tighter restrictions within 10 nautical miles. The inner restriction prohibited general aviation operations at Hobby, Ellington and La Porte during a 10 a.m.–2 p.m. window today for general aviation.

NORAD says the number of recent TFR violations in Texas is concerning and reminded pilots that checking active NOTAMs before flight is essential.
