A Lebanese security source has provided Al-Hadath with new details on a seized smuggling network moving fighters from the Syrian coast into Lebanon.
Three Syrians and two Lebanese have been arrested in connection with the operation. Weapons, bombs and explosives were seized from members of the cell.
The network was run by an officer close to Bashar al-Assad, holding the rank of major general and currently located in Moscow. The cell itself was trained by Hezbollah.
Three of the network’s trainers have been identified, and authorities are working to arrest them.
