Tarek Saleh, commander of the “National Resistance” in Yemen and the force that controlled the Bab al-Mandab region under the pro-Saudi government, announced he ordered his west coast forces to redeploy. The combined Yemeni government forces set up a new headquarters south of al-Mokha after Houthis broke through defense lines in the coastal area overnight.
Houthi official Nasr al-Din Amer, on the reported advance near the port city of al-Mokha: “The sun of freedom and independence is rising on the west coast of Yemen.”
