A group of Airmen from the 158th Fighter Wing, the “Green Mountain Boys,” has returned to Vermont Air National Guard Base in Burlington following a deployment in support of Operation Epic Fury in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

The wing deployed to the Middle East in early February with its squadron of F-35A “Lightning II” joint strike fighters. Several of the units deployed to support operations in the Middle East have deployed around the same time and replacements are beginning to rotate in the region to relieve them amid escalating tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
