New details on the Board of Peace disarmament agreement with Hamas, per sources familiar with the deal:
Light and heavy weapons will be moved to designated storage facilities and dismantled there. The depots will be controlled by the NCAG police force, whose officers are all vetted by the Shin Bet, with a multinational force overseeing the process.
Civilians may only keep light weapons “subject to Palestinian law.” The maximum permitted personal weapon would be a handgun, licensed by the Palestinian technocratic government.
Israel will cease fire once the process begins. An initial two-week ceasefire is meant to finalize implementation. If Hamas fails to start disarming, the ceasefire is considered violated and ends.
Israel’s withdrawal from the 53% “Yellow Line” only happens after full demilitarization is complete.
