Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called for the rapid deployment of an international force to monitor the ceasefire, saying:
“We need to deploy this [international stabilization] force as soon as possible on the ground. Because one party, Israel, is violating the ceasefire every day, and then claiming that the other side is violating it. So we need monitors. We need international forces deployed along the so-called yellow line to verify and monitor the upholding of the ceasefire.”
He added that the mandate should be “peacekeeping rather than peace enforcing.”
