The IDF and ISA officially announced that they have eliminated the commander of Hamas’ Eastern Rafah Battalion, his deputy, and key members of their inner circle as they attempted to flee an underground tunnel system in eastern Rafah.
The strike followed intelligence work and questioning on the ground. Those killed include battalion commander Muhammad al-Bawab, his deputy Ismail Abu Labdeh, Abdullah Hamad, son of senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad, and platoon commander Tawfiq Salem.
The IDF says its forces are continuing to secure the area and dismantle above and below-ground infrastructure. More than 40 Hamas operatives have been killed in the zone since the ceasefire went into effect.
