In a 3-0 ruling today, the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower-court decision against the Trump Administration and President Donald J. Trump’s appointment in July of Alina Habba – his previous personal lawyer – as Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey. The decision rules that not only was the appointment of Habba unlawful, but disqualifies her from serving as even Acting U.S. Attorney, adding that several other of President Trump’s appointments were also unlawful, including that of Lindsey Halligan, who a judge ruled last month was illegally appointed to the position of Interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, dropping cases she had filed against both Former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
