While we still don’t know who leaked the readout of last month’s phone call between U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s top foreign policy aide, Yuri Ushakov, to Bloomberg. I’m reminded of an article in May by NBC News, in which it was reported that Witkoff’s private plane – which he had used to fly to meetings in Russia – was not fitted with a secure government communications system, and also that Witkoff had relied on an interpreter provided by the Kremlin for all of his meetings in Moscow. Witkoff has always favored Russia, and has never not been a liability to the Trump Administration and the State Department.
