Former Harvard President and Secretary of the Treasury Lawrence H. Summers has announced that he will step back from all public commitments in an effort “to rebuild trust and repair relationships with the people closest to me,” in response to last week’s release of 20,000 emails by the House Oversight Committee showing correspondence between convicted sex offender and trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and several of his close associates, which included Summers, who had spoken back-and-forth with Epstein for over seven years, even up until the day before his arrest on July 5, 2019.
