TAMPA, Florida: Four people were killed and 11 others injured when a speeding car slammed into a crowd in Tampa’s Ybor City early Saturday morning, according to police.
The crash occurred around 12:40 a.m. on November 8, 2025, after officers spotted two vehicles racing on Hillsborough Avenue. The Florida Highway Patrol joined the pursuit and attempted a PIT maneuver near Nebraska and Palm Avenues, but disengaged for safety as one of the cars—a silver 2019 Toyota Camry—sped east on 7th Avenue.
Moments later, the car lost control near Bradley’s on 7th, striking a large group of pedestrians outside the bar. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, and a fourth victim later died at a hospital.
Police arrested the driver, identified as 22-year-old Silas Sampson of Dade City. He faces multiple felony charges, including four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated fleeing or eluding with serious injury or death. Authorities said he is being held without bond at the Hillsborough County Jail.
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw called the crash “a senseless tragedy,” urging drivers to remember that “reckless decisions can destroy lives in seconds.”
While police confirmed 11 people were hospitalized, some reports suggest as many as 13 victims were treated, with others possibly seeking care on their own.
