The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) carried out an air defense and search-and-rescue exercise last week, October 28-29, involving the Canadian, Mexican, and United States Air Force, as part of preparations for next year’s 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to be hosted in cities across North America. During the exercise, dubbed AMALGAM EAGLE 25, American F-16 and F-15 Fighter Jets, HH-60 Helicopters, KC-135 Aerial-Refueling Tankers and Canadian CF-18 Fighters supported NORAD under U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) in intercepting “Tracks of Interest” over critical sites across Canada, Mexico, and the United States; with Mexican T-6 Texan IIs and UH-60 Helicopters, along with a Canadian Learjet and a Mexican King Air acting as the “Tracks of Interest” (TOI).
