Israeli forces say multiple suspects in southern Syria were arrested in recent months for working with Iran’s Unit 840, a secret IRGC Quds Force branch.
Two operatives were captured in March and April, while more cells tied to eliminated IRGC figures Salah al-Husseini and Muhammad Shuayb were detained later. The IDF says the pair smuggled weapons from Iran to Judea and Samaria, Lebanon, and Syria.
Many recruits didn’t know they were working for Unit 840, joining mainly for money, according to interrogations.
