The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has assessed that Russia used the lead-up to summit in Anchorage, Alaska on August 15 to stockpile drones and ballistic/cruise missiles and conducted more limited strikes against Ukraine to falsely present itself as a “good-faith negotiator” to U.S. President Donald J. Trump. Russia will likely continue to escalate its strikes against Ukraine in the coming weeks to leverage its replenished missile and drone stockpiles and degrade Ukrainian energy infrastructure ahead of the coming Winter.
