Whistleblowers: FBI officials singled out agents who were former military for anti-Trump retaliation

Congress_Homeland_Security_78130_c0-230-

More whistleblowers have stepped forward to tell Congress that high-ranking FBI officials are targeting agents for their political beliefs and trying to force them out of the bureau, specifically going after former military members.

The Marine Corps and other military veterans at the FBI are being accused of being disloyal to the U.S. because they fit the profile of a supporter of former President Donald Trump, according to two new disclosures sent to lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee.

The Washington Times obtained copies of the disclosures.

The whistleblowers said FBI Security Division Deputy Assistant Director Jeffrey Veltri and Assistant Section Chief Dena Perkins specifically went after bureau employees who served as Marines or in other military branches

They retaliated against the agents by stripping them of security clearance, which sidelines them on the job and pushes them toward the exit, according to the disclosures.

The whistleblower disclosures charge that Mr. Veltri and Ms. Perkins either declared or attempted to declare the Marine and other veterans as “disloyal to the United States of America.”

“In these cases there was no indication that any of the individuals had any affiliation to a foreign power or held any belief against the United States,” it said.

Ms. Perkins and Mr. Veltri also considered not wearing masks, refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccination, and participating in religious activities showed that an employee was a “right-wing radical and disloyal to the United States.”

In another instance, Ms. Perkins attempted to revoke a security clearance of a bureau employee she knew was a Marine veteran, but information showed that the initial allegations against the employee were unfounded, the disclosure says.

This did not stop Ms. Perkins from ordering her investigators to canvass at least 10 police departments where the employee lived to find out if the FBI employee had any allegations lodged against him.

“During the process, Perkins was attempting to provide evidence so she could terminate this employee because he was ‘Disloyal to the United States,’” the disclosure states.

“An employee advised that at least two of the publicly known FBI whistleblowers were former members of the military, specifically … Kyle Seraphin and Garret O’Boyle,” according to one of the disclosures.

Another FBI whistleblower disclosure sent to the Judiciary Committee included an accusation from a Security Division employee who said the security clearance investigation of Mr. Seraphin did not follow the policy guidelines of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The FBI did not respond to a request for comment.

Previously, the FBI disputed earlier whistleblower allegations that its security division went after security clearances of FBI employees who are conservatives.

“The FBI does not target or take adverse action against employees for exercising their First Amendment rights or for their political views; to allege otherwise is false and misleading. The FBI is required to follow established policies and procedures, to include a thorough investigation, when suspending or revoking a security clearance,” the FBI said in a statement to The Times.

Mr. Seraphin was subjected to a security clearance investigation, according to the disclosure, after his field office notified Ms. Perkins that a police officer who was out of his jurisdiction confronted him about practicing with his gun at a shooting range.

Mr. O’Boyle lost his security clearance after he testified before the House Judiciary Committee’s panel that is investigating the weaponization of the federal government. His security clearance was suspended in September 2022 over allegations he had leaked information about a criminal investigation to Project Veritas that FBI officials said “compromised the case.”

Mr. O’Boyle ended up homeless after he lost his security clearance and was suspended without pay, according to the disclosures.

Officials in the FBI’s Security Division, or SecD in bureau lingo, suspended Mr. O’Boyle’s security clearance after he was transferred to a new field office, leaving him and his family in a new city where they became financially stranded and homeless, it said.

The disclosure names the FBI supervisor Sean Clark and Ms. Perkins who were behind the scheme to punish Mr. O’Boyle, allegedly transferring him across the country with the intent to suspend him and financially devastate him.

“Clark bragged to at least one other FBI employee in SecD that he was going to really ‘screw’ O’Boyle,” the disclosure said.

In an interview with The Times, Mr. O’Boyle said he never met or knew Mr. Clark or Ms. Perkins. He said he only learned about them when The Times shared the information from the whistleblower disclosure with him.

“I didn’t even know these people, but they came after me anyway, because that’s what tyrants do. They come after the people who they’re afraid of,” Mr. O’Boyle said. They come after the people who speak the truth.”

He has sued the FBI. His security clearance has been suspended for 14 months, and he is forbidden by the FBI to accept donations or find another job while suspended without pay, he said.

“My attorneys have advised me that if I quit, then the FBI will simply file a motion to dismiss the suit [and] my lawsuit would have no standing,” Mr. O’Boyle said.

Mr. Clark and Ms. Perkins likely knew he did not pass the information to Project Veritas or other news media, according to the disclosure.

“At the time, the Security Division suspended FBI employee Garret O’Boyle, the supervisor in charge of O’Boyle’s Case, Sean Clark, had already determined that O’Boyle did not provide any information to either Project Veritas or the press,” the disclosure said.

“SecD was operating under the theory that O’Boyle had provided the information to another FBI employee who then passed it on to an entity outside the FBI,” it said. “However, SecD did not conclusively know how the information was passed to Project Veritas or the press.”

Mr. Clark and Ms. Perkins allowed Mr. O’Boyle, who was unaware he was under an internal investigation, to sell his home and move to the other office. He was then suspended immediately upon entering the doors of the new office, it said.

“O’Boyle and his family were left homeless. The FBI had possession of all of Mr. O’Boyle’s and his family’s personal effects, including clothes and furniture,” the disclosure said. “No one in SecD took any steps to assist O’Boyle from the desperate predicament that SecD created. SecD caused O’Boyle, who was still an FBI employee, to be left destitute in a city [where] he had no family or support.”

Mr. O’Boyle told lawmakers in his public testimony in June he never had an opportunity to defend himself and had only one interview with the bureau, which happened one year earlier after apparent prompting from Congress.

“It has been more than a year since the FBI took my paycheck from me and we’re getting financially crushed. My family and I have been surviving on early withdrawals from our retirement accounts,” he told lawmakers.

Министерство обороны Израиля поставит некой неназванной стране системы противовоздушной обороны. Об этом сообщает Defense News.

Сделка оценивается в 1,2 млрд долларов, заявил генеральный подрядчик — концерн Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

Die Welt.

Iranian President Raisi urges Islamic leaders to reach firm decision on Palestine

Iranian President Raisi urges Islamic leaders to reach firm decision on Palestine
14:45, 11 November 2023

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has called on the leaders of Islamic countries to reach a firm decision on the issue of Palestine and fully implement it.

Speaking before departing Tehran on Saturday morning to attend the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Raisi emphasized the importance of concrete actions, reports the Iranian news agency IRNA.

“It is expected that the heads of Islamic countries will reach a firm decision on the issue of Palestine, which is the most important issue in the world, and the decision will be fully implemented,” he said, calling for action instead of paying lip service to the Palestinian issue.

As IRNA reports, Raisi noted that Palestine is the reason behind the establishment of the OIC, adding that an immediate halt to Israeli bombardment of Gaza, opening of a way to help the people of Gaza, lifting the blockade of the enclave, and realization of Gaza’s rights are the main goals of the organization.

Russia is funding anti-Ukraine disinformation campaign throughout Latin America, State Department says

The United States on Tuesday accused Russia of financing a Latin America-wide disinformation campaign that feeds media contacts with propaganda and fake news aimed at weakening support for Ukraine and boosting anti-U.S. and anti-NATO sentiments.

“The Kremlin’s ultimate goal appears to be to launder its propaganda and disinformation through local media in a way that feels organic to Latin American audiences,” said a State Department statement.

The Russian embassy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

RUSSIA TEST-LAUNCHES NUCLEAR-CAPABLE MISSILE FROM NEW SUBMARINE

The statement is the latest volley by Washington in its attempts to counter what it says is Russia’s use of disinformation to promote the Kremlin’s foreign policy goals.

On Oct. 20 the U.S. released a declassified intelligence assessment, sent to more than 100 governments, that said Moscow is using spies, social media and Russian state-run media to erode public faith in the integrity of democratic elections.

Tuesday’s statement said Russia uses media contacts in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay to spread disinformation to weaken backing for Ukraine’s fight against Russia’s invasion and fuel anti-U.S. and anti-NATO views.

The “information manipulation campaign” has been coordinated by three Russian organizations, The Social Design Agency (SDA), the Institute for Internet Development, and Structura, said the statement. It called them “influence-for-hire” firms that have co-opted local media and influencers in Latin America.

The European Union imposed sanctions on SDA and Structura in July, accusing them of spreading propaganda supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Teams in Russia create content that is sent to “cultivated” journalists in Latin America “for review, editing and ultimately publication in mass media,” the U.S. State Department said.

It named online Spanish-language news outlets, Pressenza, whose website says it was established in Milan, Italy, in 2009 and registered in Ecuador since 2014, and Chile-based El Ciudadano, as the primary outlets that carry the material.

Officials at the outlets did not immediately respond to emailed requests for comment.

The question remains: Why did Hamas attack Israel?

MN7HCRZ6DWNTZEAROQNG3GYXII.jpg

There is an obvious question we should ask about the Hamas raid into Israel on Oct. 7 that culminated in a massacre of more than 1,400 people, most of them civilians.

Why did Hamas do it?

The Hamas planners were quite sophisticated in their techniques. The raiders had precise information on their cellphones about the location of Israel’s intelligence center near the Gaza frontier; they even had the location of the communication room in that center. Yet there was nothing subtle or discriminating about their targeting of victims. They did not go looking for Israeli soldiers or political extremists. The intruders shot their victims, or took them hostage, as if they wished to inspire the greatest possible outrage.

It is usually a mistake to assume that rulers of a group like Hamas are not only fanatical but also stupid. On the contrary, it should be assumed that Hamas leaders had a clear idea of the consequences that would follow upon a massacre of Israeli civilians. And it should also be assumed that they would not undertake such an operation without approval — or encouragement — from their backers in Tehran.

Indeed, it is easier to grasp an Iranian rationale for inducing the Oct. 7 operation than it is to understand why Hamas leaders would want to provoke the Israeli assault on Gaza that has been loosed on Palestinian families living there, causing horrific suffering among men, women, and children who had no say in the Hamas attack. For the ruling clique in Tehran, who aspire to become the dominant power in the Persian Gulf and much of the greater Middle East, a primary strategic goal is to reduce the numbers and influence of American ships, soldiers, and aircraft now stationed across the region.

Hence nothing could be more distressing to the authorities in Tehran than word that a tripartite agreement was in the works that could lead to a normalization of Israeli-Saudi relations; would grant American assistance for the development of nuclear energy in Saudi Arabia; and would provide enhanced US security assistance for the Sunni kingdom. With the possible exception of their panic over Iranian women refusing to wear the hijab in the properly subservient way, the looming prospect of an enhanced American military commitment to Saudi Arabia has become the worst nightmare of the clerical rulers in Tehran.

Iran’s ruling ayatollahs and Revolutionary Guard commanders had a motive, then, to encourage Hamas to stage a massacre of Israelis so appalling that it could induce Israel’s far-right government to launch an invasion of Gaza that could, in turn, provoke a regional conflagration. In this scenario, Iran’s Lebanese allies in the Hezbollah movement might unleash their 150,000 missiles and rockets at Israel, canceling the Zionist entity once and for all, and doing the same for the Saudi-American-Israeli triad.

Iran’s Shi’ite rulers might believe that such an apocalyptic conflict would suit their geopolitical interests. But how does such a scenario make sense for leaders of Hamas, who risk losing everything if their Iranian backers fail to drive the Americans from the region, to cancel the US-Saudi-Israeli entente, and to abolish the Zionist entity?

The evidence suggests either that Hamas decision makers believed Iran would come to their aid militarily or that provoking a devastating Israeli retaliation could somehow benefit the Palestinian people in Gaza and elsewhere.

Iranian strategists and Hamas leaders are not the only parties to the billowing conflict who have been feeding on illusions. Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu of Israel has long operated on the assumption that Israel’s number one priority is to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state — and that therefore it should be Israeli policy to limit the powers of the Palestinian National Authority while surreptitiously empowering Hamas, even having Mossad agents enable the transfer of funds from Qatar to Hamas. The ancient Athenians had a word for blindness of that kind. They called it hubris.

If there is a political lesson in the billowing horrors of the current moment it is that Israelis and Palestinians each need a state of their own. The two-state solution would not be without its problems, but the one-state solution to the conflicts left behind by Ottoman and European colonialism remains a prescription for apocalyptic suffering.

If there is one thing that Israel’s extreme right-wing government and the leaders of the Hamas movement have in common, it is their fatal determination to prevent a two-state resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat used to evoke the potential for a Mideast version of Benelux, in which Israel, Jordan, and the state of Palestine would form a peaceful, prosperous collaborative entity.

Arafat’s vision may have been little more than a diverting pipe dream, but the one-state madness of Hamas leaders and extremist Israeli ministers leads only to more massacres of the innocent.
