The very large crude carrier (VLCC) Sidr appears to have come to a near-complete stop while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with its AIS data currently showing a speed of approximately 0.6 knots.
The vessel is in an area where several commercial ships using the U.S.-designated route through Omani waters have previously been attacked by Iranian forces.
The reason for the sudden reduction in speed is currently unknown.
