Limping Into the Post Season

“Night Baseball,” by Marjorie Phillips, 1951. The paiting depicts a game between the Washington Senators and the New York Yankees at the old Griffith Stadium, with the legendary Joe DiMaggio at bat.

I’m a baseball nut. You’ve maybe reads lots, as I have, about the top teams in Major Leage Baseball barging into the playoffs with some of their best players lost to injury. Well, we’ve had a few setbacks ourselves.

Here at SpyTalk World Headquarters in Washington, DC, I’m down myself, with what seems to be another assault of arthritis on my upper cervical spine, which is sending bolts of pain through my shoulder down into my arm. Makes it hard to sit up and type for long.

Fear not, I’m in the same good medical hands I was a dozen years ago. I’ll be better soon. So will the small handful of SpyTalk contributors struggling a bit with their own ailments. But some of the terrific stories and reviews that I’d hoped to move early this week may be delayed a bit.

What’s keeping me in good spirits? You, dear readers: We continue to grow, week after week, month after month, year after year. Today we’re at just under 27,000 subscribers. Over the past 90 days, we had over 870,000 “views” of our pieces. Clearly, we’re punching above our weight. That’s all due to your amazing loyalty and spreading the word that we’re doing something right here.

So thanks, once again. And as Ahnold says, “I’ll be back.”
