In a letter to senior members of the House and Senate Intelligence committees, the first whistleblower leveled fresh accusations against Trump, alleging that former intelligence operatives working for him during the last year of his his presidency and for at least two years afterward covertly surveilled senior Democratic lawmakers, sniffing for dirt that Trump could use later for political leverage, according to Byline Times, a British investigative news site.
The targets of the operation were Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY; then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., then chairman of the House intelligence Committee. The informant also said Trump’s operatives took their own photos of the politicians and the people with whom they met and collected additional images from social media and the security cameras in the Dirksen and Hart Senate office buildings. That raises the question of how they obtained those images from the Senate office building cameras, which are controlled by Capitol Police.
